lec·ti·to  ·  verb, Latin  ·  to read eagerly; to read often

Lectito

A word about reading, repurposed for building. We still read a lot of rulebooks, right?

This website is now a logbook for the board games I design — most of which have drifted somewhere out among the stars. The remnants are posted here!

About Me

I (Lewis) design board games as a hobby, just for the pleasure of turning an idea into something you can set on a table and argue over.

As one of my other hobbies is astronomy, my games naturally tend to be space themed: trade routes strung between planets, faster-than-light networks, asteroids full of gems. This site is where I keep track of what I've finished and what I'm still working on.

Some games are playable right now, on Tabletop Simulator or other platforms.

Games

Astranet — prototype board and components

Astranet

In progress Playable Original
2–5 players~90 minmy first original design

My first original game. A strange substance called Nyx, found drifting in the interstellar medium, lets humanity build transwarp pathways between the stars. Rival network operators race to explore nearby systems, claim strategic routes, and complete contracts for influence. Your ship does the work — laying pathways and harvesting resources — so where you point it each turn is the heart of the puzzle.

Asteroid Miners — prototype board and components

Asteroid Miners

In progress Original · small box
1–4 players~45 minlight weight

A smaller, simpler design I started as a palate cleanser from Astranet — something I could actually finish on the days the big project felt like too much. Gems, mine shafts and workers: send your crew down the right shafts, dig, and squeeze the most out of a tight little board.

Ticket to Ride: Solar System — the board mid-game

Ticket to Ride: Solar System

Playable Fan variant
2–6 players~60 minmedium weight

A fan-made take on Ticket to Ride, set in 2340 after humanity has spread across the Solar System. Players race to fulfil contracts by laying routes between planets, moons and stations, angling to become the dominant transport network. It keeps the rhythm of the Europe map and adds a deck of Technology cards, plus a Command deck for special abilities and scoring. Built and refined in Tabletop Simulator across a couple of years of playtesting.

New Game: Yes, it's space-themed.

In progress Original
1–6 players~120 minmedium/heavy weight

The Logbook

No design diaries yet. When I start writing up how these games come together - or indeed, don't - I plan to post about it here.
